OVERLAND PARK, Kan.– The Portland Thorns tied Kansas City 1-1 their first game in team history Saturday night in the debut game for the National Women's Soccer League.
The Thorns took on the Kansas City Blues at a high school stadium in Overland Park, Kansas. They had a sellout crowd of more than 6,000 people.
In the third minute of the game Renee Cuellar scored for the Blues. She also plays for team Mexico. Later in the first half Alex Morgan had a takeaway that started the Thorns on the attack. But it remained 1-0 at halftime.
