PORTLAND – The Portland Timbers are hoping to snap their long losing streak when they take on the Chicago Fire Saturday.

The Timbers’ last win was nearly two months ago.

If there's a team trying as hard to get on track as the Timbers, it’s the Fire.

Both are near the bottom of the standings, with 18 points for the season, and both have gone more than a month without a win.

The Fire lost to the Timbers, 4-2, in April. Since then, Chicago has won just two games.

Despite Chicago's struggles, Timbers head coach John Spencer said he doesn't take any opponent lightly.

"There are no easy games in this league,” Spencer said. “They'll be looking at us with their recent record saying, “It's a great chance to get our third win of the season.” I guarantee you that. And it's a great chance for them to avenge what we did to them in the first game at Jeld-Wen.”

Spencer also talked about getting more shots on goal; Portland is last in the league in that department.

Creating more chances Saturday in Chicago will go a long way toward snapping that 7-game winless streak.
