PORTLAND, Ore. – “Pre-season" means different things to different people.
If you didn’t know better, you would have thought Monday’s Timbers match was for a spot in the MLS championship.
More than 16,000 fans turned out for what was actually the Timbers’ opening pre-season game, and the on-field effort and fan enthusiasm created a climate worthy of mid-season. The Timbers finished in a 1-1 draw with San Jose.
The Timbers practiced in the chill Wednesday, in preparation for their next preseason game Thursday night at Jeld-Wen field against Chivas USA. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
