They came out early to welcome home Jacoby Ellsbury. "He's pretty much a hero," said Stacy Boatman who was poised along the parade route early this morning.

The people of Madras lined streets near the high school to cheer on Ellsbury.

"I think he's fast and he can steal bases real easily," said 7 year old Lac Glickman.

Ellsbury shot from the minor leagues to the Boston Red Socks just weeks before the World Series.

The 24 year old centerfielder made series history by becoming the only rookie to hit two doubles during a single inning.  He also won the nation a free taco from Taco Bell when he stole second base during game two against Colorado.

Just five years ago, Ellsbury was a stand out at Madras High School before being drafted in his third year at Oregon State University.

"How you see him now, that's how he was then," said high school assistand coach Andy Leonard.

The celebration continued after the parade at the gym of Madras High School, where it was standing room only.

"This is a dream come true. The parade in Boston was pretty amazing, but this one is even better!" said Ellsbury.

He said hard work and preparation gave him the confidence needed to compete in the World Series.

"One of my favorite quotes was the bigger the the stage, the greater the opportunity," said Ellsbury.

Many fans think Ellsbury should have won series MVP.  In his hometown, he already has.

"MVP stands for Madras is very proud." said fan Dusty Underwood.
