What’s next for the second-place cursed Oregon Ducks?
More: Complete Ducks coverage
Dennis Dixon will have surgery on the left knee that buckled early in second-ranked Oregon's upset loss to Arizona, costing the Ducks a shot at the national championship and likely his hopes for the Heisman Trophy.
The quarterback tore his anterior cruciate ligament during Oregon's Nov. 3 victory over Arizona State, according to coach Mike Bellotti, but he had rested it and felt like he was ready to play Thursday night against the Wildcats.
Dixon will miss the rest of this season.

Oregon is the fifth No. 2 team to lose, following USC, Cal, USF and BC. The Ducks never recovered in a 34-24 upset by Arizona Thursday night.
The Ducks could still possibly make the Rose Bowl, and Belotti expressed that all along eyes were on the Pac-10 championship.
The injury also dashes hopes for Dixon to win the Heisman.
Oregon plays ULCA next week, and the Beavers on December 1.
Oregon became the fifth Number Two team to lose since October sixth following USC, California, South Florida and Boston College.
The Ducks' defeat could open the door for third-ranked Oklahoma in The Associated Press Top 25, and for Number Three Kansas in the Bowl Championship Series standings.
