Eugene set to host Olympic Track & Field Trials

EUGENE, Ore. -- The best track and field athletes in the United States will converge on Eugene in June for 10 days of competition at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

The Trials run from June 27 through July 6. The event will determine the USA Olympic team for all track events including sprints, hurdles, and distance races, as well as all field events, including high jump, long jump, pole vault and throwing events.

Eugene is nicknamed "Tracktown USA" for its long history of great University of Oregon runners and top-notch track and field competitions.

The events will be held at storied Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The track stadium boasts seating for more than 10,000 spectactors and has hosted six national championship meets, nine NCAA championship meets, and will now host its fourth Olympic Trials. A new scoreboard that shows live action video is just one of the upgrades added at Hayward for the trials.
