Portland defeats Northern Arizona 6-1

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Sophie Schmidt and Halley Kreminski each scored two goals and the Portland Pilots defeated Northern Arizona 6-1 Friday night in a first-round NCAA women's soccer tournament game.

Second-seeded Portland, which went 17-1 and 7-0 in the West Coast Conference during the regular season, has won 17 straight games. The Pilots advance to play Texas on Sunday.
Schmidt scored in the second minute for the Pilots, playing at home at the University of Portland's Clive Charles Soccer Complex. Megan Rapinoe added a goal in the 28th minute followed by Kreminski's first goal in the 40th minute.
Kayla Bauder scored in the 57th minute for Northern Arizona, which went 12-6-3 and 4-1-2 in the Big Sky Conference.
The Pilots answered with two quick goals by Schmidt and Kassi McCluskie. Kreminski added a final goal in the 83rd minute.
Tori Rocke made 10 saves in goal for the Lumberjacks, while Pilot goalie Kelsey Davis recorded three saves.
Earlier Friday, Emily Anderson scored the lone goal and Texas defeated Washington State 1-0 to set up Sunday's match.
