Holmgren's coaching questioned after latest loss

Is Holmgren's lameduck coaching status hurting Seahawks season?

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- Is coach Mike Holmgren's lameduck status this season affecting the play of the Seattle Seahawks?

It's hard to know what's in the hearts of the Seahawks players, but the team has posted 3-1 records in four of the last five seasons when they made the playoffs under Holmgren and they're 1-3 in Holmgren's last year as coach of the Seahawks this season.

General manager Tim Ruskell has named second-year Seahawks defensive backs coach Jim Mora to replace Holmgren at the end of this season. Mora formerly was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons.

The Seahawks were pummeled 44-6 in a road game by the New York Giants yesterday, the most lopsided loss in Holmgren's decade as coach of the franchise.

At the team's headquarters today in Renton, Holmgren said: "Coming in, I had very, very high expectations. And I still do. So when we start here? When do we get it going? When do we play the way that we think we are capable of playing?"
