Trail Blazers honor Duckworth with jersey
02:58 PM PDT on Tuesday, September 30, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The Trail Blazers announced that their uniforms will include a memorial stripe in honor of the late Kevin Duckworth.
The former center died this summer at age 44.
The uniforms will feature a black stripe with the number double-zero etched in white.
This past summer, Duckworth toured Oregon, teaching basketball at camps with former teammate Jerome Kersey. It was an experience Duckworth talked about warmly.
The Blazers also established a college scholarship in Duckworth’s honor, while Mayor Tom Potter announced the city will name a Willamette River dock after him. Duckworth was an avid boater and fisherman.
