Beaverton's Windes wins silver in water polo

Beaverton High School grad Elsie Windes earned a silver medal in Beijing as she and her teammates in women's water polo were edged by Netherlands in the finals.

Windes and Team USA edged Australia by a single goal to reach the gold medal match, then fell to the Netherlands by a single goal, 9-8.
It was the first Olympic medal for Windes, who graduated from Beaverton High School in 2003.
As a senior, she led the Beavers to the state championship. She also competed for four years on the varsity swim team before attending the University of California, where she was a three-time All American in water polo.
She joined the U.S. National Team in 2007.
