Wong will try to come back from knee injury

10:21 AM PDT on Tuesday, July 11, 2006

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene native Kailee Wong has had a long, productive career in the NFL.

The former North Eugene High school star has played defense for the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans.

But last season against Seattle, Wong seriously injured his knee. Now, he's trying to come back from the injury, after eight months and two surgeries.

He told the Eugene Register-Guard that he hopes to return for active duty when the NFL training camps begin later this month.

But Houston has a new coaching staff, and there are no guarantees for Wong.

Wong has 639 career tackles, six interceptions and 21 passes defended in his NFL career.
