The NCAA champion Oregon State Beavers baseball team received a huge welcome when it arrived back in Portland Tuesday, after winning its first-ever College World Series championship.
A huge celebration was held in Pioneer Square, with a packed crowd of cheering fans welcoming the college baseball players home.

OSU earns first national title since '61
The Beavers won the final game of the World Series with a score of 3-2 over North Carolina Monday night.

This meant that the Beavers (50-16) became the first team in CWS history to lose twice in Omaha and win the national title. Oregon State also is the first truly Northern-based school to win the series since Ohio State in 1966.

Game 3: OSU champs, 3-2
Northern teams have proved they can compete with their sunshine counterparts during the season. But until Oregon State came to Omaha, the only other Northern schools to reach the College World Series since 2000 were Nebraska and Notre Dame.
