Athletes to watch in the AST Dew Tour
11:15 AM PDT on Thursday, July 5, 2007
More than 150 top athletes are traveling on this year’s tour, including freestyle motocross champ Nate Adams, BMX vert star Jamie Bestwick, BMX park standout Daniel Dhers, BMX dirt star Anthony Napolitan, skate vert stuntman Bucky Lasek and skate park expert Ryan Sheckle.
Also, local fan favorite Beau Bamburg of Gresham will be competing in FMX. Bamburg is known as a consistent performer with some of the best extension in the field of top FMX competitors. He has a bag of stall-out tricks that earned him some trademark moves others struggle to emulate.
Here are just a few of the other athletes to watch:
Nate Adams: (FMX) Adams is primed and ready to kick start another Dew Tour season. His consistent ability to nail tech tricks without crashing is just what it'll take for him to win a second Cup.
Flawless no-footed can-cans make Wiley Fullmer another one to watch heading into the FMX season. Young and fearless, this kid brings a combo of stoke and skill to FMX that is hard to beat.
Jamie Bestwick: (BMX Vert) From Nottingham, England, Jamie is a smooth and stylish rider. His favorite trick is the tailwhip flair. When he’s not riding his bike, Jamie is an avid photographer.
Dew Tour also has its radar zeroed in on Dave Mirra for good reason in the BMX Vert competition. A man of many talents, Mirra is the type of guy who (if uninjured) is just so good you could make a fortune putting money on his moves.
Anthony Napolitan: (BMX Dirt) BMX's overnight superstar from Ohio has no hesitations on the Dirt course. He has a talent, or gift rather, that will see him through to the top of the pack.
BMX Dirt star TJ Ellis is also looking strong going into the 2007 season. This kid from Cali is one of the most relaxed and smoothest Dirt riders on Tour and is always stoked to ride.
Daniel Dhers: (BMX Park) His front flip over the spine and complicated tailwhip variations make him the standard setting rider to beat and clenched him the Dew Cup in '06.
And it’s no mystery why Dew Tour also has their eye on Mike Spinner for BMX Park. He won the '06 Free Flow Tour and lives true to his name with fearless abandon.
Bucky Lasek: (Skate Vert) Bucky Lasek is from Baltimore, MD. He has worked hard in his eight-year skateboarding career to become the No. 1 vert skater in America. He first picked up a skateboard at age 12 after someone stole his bike and he’s never looked back. Watch for his extremely difficult tricks and smooth style.
Rob Lorfice is also one to watch in ’07 with his special smooth rhythm and style. Locked and loaded, Lorfice will no doubt be bringin' it in Skate Vert.

Ryan Sheckler: (Skate Park) Ryan Sheckler may be small but his tricks are huge. He started skating at the age of four in his driveway with a dream of being one of the best pro skaters ever. Ryan is from San Clemente, Calif. When he’s not on his skateboard, you might spot him on TV – Ryan has been in commercials for Gogurt and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes.
Skate Park standout Nyjah Huston has a quiet style and skill-ridden capabilities that are amazing for a 12-year-old. Huston is also expected to show serious progression above and beyond most on the Dew Tour this year.
