Oregon javelin thrower wins at NCAAs

DES MOINES (AP) -- The University of Oregon track and field team finished in a tie for eleventh place with Northern Iowa Saturday in the NCAA Track Field championships in Des Moines. The Oregon women's team finished eighth.
Women's javelin thrower Rachel Yurkovich took Oregon's only first place, winning her event with a toss of 185 feet, 7 inches. Brianne Theisen finished fourth overall in the Heptathlon and Kalindra McFadden finished 17th.
Theisen was fourth in the long jump in the heptathlon and McFadden finished 17th in that event.
Andrew Wheating finished second in the 800 for Oregon and Andrew Acosta was ninth in the 1,500.
