09:56 AM PDT on Saturday, May 17, 2008
CHICAGO -- Former Portland Pilots defender/midfielder Michael Gavin is one of 22 players named to the U.S. U-23 National Team.
It is preparing to travel to Toulon, France, for the Toulon International Tournament later this month. Gavin concluded his collegiate career last fall. The team will arrive in France Thursday.
Overall, the U.S. has made seven previous trips to the invitation-only event, with their most recent appearance dating back to 2001.
Gavin, a four-year starter for the Pilots, finished his career with four goals, four assists and two game-winners. He was named to the All-WCC Second Team last fall and was the WCC Year in 2004.
