Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The Mariners beat the Rangers 4-3 in a 12-inning day game at Texas.

Starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn came in for the bottom of the 12th inning in relief and got the save. J.J. Putz (puts) picked up the win.

The Mariners took the 4-3 lead when Miguel Cairo singled to score Wladimir Balentien.

It was the final game of the three-game series and prevented a Texas sweep.

The M's are off tomorrow, returning to Seattle to start a three-game series Friday against San Diego at Safeco Field.

Jeff Clement had two hits and his first RBI today for the Mariners. He hit a triple to score Jose Lopez and tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh inning. Clement then scored on a double by Yuniesky Betancourt to give Seattle a 3-2 lead.

Texas tied it up again in the eighth. Clement also had a double in the ninth.
