Ex-Blazer Randolph still in trouble with police
07:45 AM PDT on Thursday, March 27, 2008
Former Trail Blazer Zach Randolph may not play in Portland anymore, but he’s still attracting the attention of local police. A newly released police report indicates Randolph was caught in the middle of a skirmish at a Portland nightclub, just hours after an overtime loss to his former team.
On February 1st, Portland Police responded to reports of a fight involving 100 people at the Greek Cusina. When officers arrived at around 2:30 a.m. they found several customers complaining they had been maced by club security. The police report suggests there were threats of guns, but none were found. Officers reported the party was hosted by former Trail Blazer Zach Randolph.
“At one point Randolph was involved in an argument on the second floor.” The report continues, “As a result of this argument a large fight involving 50+ people broke out…” No arrests were made.
The incident occurred on the same night that Randolph returned to his original N.B.A home. Randolph, now playing for the New York Knicks, scored 25 points and 13 rebounds in an overtime loss to the Trail Blazers.
Randolph was drafted by the Trail Blazers in 2001. He had several run-ins with police, including a speed racing incident, during his stint in Portland.
Randolph was not cited or arrested during the early morning skirmish in Portland in February.
He played the following night in Seattle.
