Hot Air Balloons
The Olympic Games were held during the Great Exposition in Paris, 1900. This image shows spectators looking at the hot air balloons in the park at Vincennes. Balloon pilots at the Paris Olympics were judged on distance traveled, time in the air, and ability to land at predetermined coordinates. The sport was removed from the Olympic roster, because of a ban on motorized sports. (Popperfoto/Getty Images)
