06:20 PM PDT on Friday, April 18, 2008

EUGENE, Ore. -- The best track and field athletes in the United States will converge on Eugene in June for 10 days of competition at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

Eugene is nicknamed "Tracktown USA" for its long history of great University of Oregon runners and top-notch track and field competitions.

The events will be held at storied Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The track stadium boasts seating for more than 10,000 spectactors and has hosted six national championship meets, nine NCAA championship meets, and will now host its fourth Olympic Trials. A new scoreboard that shows live action video is just one of the upgrades added at Hayward for the trials.
