Seahawks fans need to have heart medication handy with all the exciting, last-minute wins they have piled up in the Pete Carroll era. It continued Sunday with a game-winning touchdown in the final minute against the Dolphins.
Here’s a look at the nail-biter victories under coach Pete – and these are just the ones at CenturyLink Field
Seahawks defeat Packers in NFC Championship
Perhaps the most perspiration-inducing one of all. The Seahawks miraculously came back from a 19-7 deficit with about four minutes to go. Then Russell Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse for a game-winning 35-yard TD in overtime, 28-22.
Seahawks defeat 49ers in NFC Championship
Richard Sherman tipped Colin Kaepernick’s pass intended for Michael Crabtree and Malcolm Smith picked it off in the end zone to secure Seattle’s ticket to Super Bowl XLVIII.
Seahawks defeat Packers on “Fail Mary”
Whether you believe Golden Tate caught Russell Wilson’s desperation pass on Monday Night Football in 2012, or you think it was picked off, it still goes down as a Seahawks win in the record books and one of the most bizarre ones you’ll ever see.
Seahawks beat Lions on miracle play by Bam Bam
Kam Chancellor, one week after coming off his contract holdout, saved the night for the Seahawks in Week 4 of 2015. He punched the ball out of the hands of Lions receiver Calvin Johnson at the half-yard line inside of the final two minutes. Fortunately, the refs did not throw the flag on linebacker K.J. Wright for batting the ball out of the end zone. It all was enough to give Seattle a 13-10 win.
Seahawks beat Dolphins on Baldwin TD catch
It was an ugly game all around, but Seattle came through in the end. A hobbled Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin for a 2-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left for the 12-10 win.
Seahawks wild comeback against Tampa Bay
The 2013 Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the season 0-7. But on this day, they built a 24-7 third quarter lead before Seattle kicked it into gear. It ended in overtime with Steven Hauschka’s 27-yard field goal to win it 27-24. It was Hauschka’s fifth field goal of the day.
Seahawks spoil Broncos’ Super Bowl revenge game
The Broncos played much better against the Seahawks in their 2014 Super Bowl rematch than they did in the big game a few months earlier. And with less than a minute left in regulation and no timeouts, Peyton Manning was vintage in leading Denver to a game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion in 41 seconds. But the Russell Wilson and company got the ball first in overtime. They marched down the field, and Marshawn Lynch dove in from six yards out for the 26-20 win.
Seahawks beat Patriots in “U Mad Bro” game
Yes, the Patriots got the best of the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. But two years before that, Tom Brady and the Pats came into the Clink and were early victims of Russell Wilson’s late-game heroics. Wilson hit Sidney Rice for a 46-yard touchdown in the final two minutes to give Seattle a 24-23 win.
