PORTLAND, Ore. – Are you ready, Rip City?
The Portland Trail Blazers will open their 2014-2015 NBA season against Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Moda Center on Oct. 29.
The NBA on Wednesday released its schedule for the upcoming season.
Some highlights from the Blazers' schedule:
- The defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs will return to Portland on Dec. 15 and Feb. 25.
- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will visit Portland on Nov. 4.
- The Los Angeles Lakers make two trips to Portland on Jan. 5 and Feb. 11.
- The Houston Rockets return to the Moda Center for one game on March 11.
The Blazers will be on national TV 16 times. All 82 regular season games will be aired by national carriers or the Trail Blazers Broadcast Television Network.
Portland ranked fifth in the NBA in home attendance last season, including 28 sellouts, the team said.
"People want to be coming to our games this year," said Vincent Ircandia, Trail Blazers VP of business analytics. "We are going to have a little bit less (ticket) inventory for the individual game buyers, so we're encouraging people to buy early and looking forward to a magical season."
Fans will have a new way to get fired up for games this season. On event nights, the fountain outside the Moda Center will once again be shooting flames. Blazers President, Chris McGowan, tweeted a picture of the fiery fountain before the Tom Petty concert Tuesday night.
Opening night will also feature the debut of the Blazers' new basketball court design, the winner of the team's "Create the Court" contest.
Single game tickets will go on sale Monday, Sept. 8, on the team's website.
