PORTLAND – One of the busiest high school athletic fields in Oregon has been condemned.
The 9-year-old artificial turf on Lincoln High School’s field apparently does not have enough cushion left to be safe. So the school has been ordered to replace it.
The turf was supposed to be replaced by September 29th but the work has not even begun yet. So right now, three football teams and six soccer teams have been forced to find alternative practice sites. For the most part, they’re practicing at city parks and at Portland State University.
Officials said the new $500,000 turf should be in place by October 6th, according to their updated schedule.
