Sheldon was the best of the best at the 6A level last season. Hillsboro was the king of the castle in the 5A ranks. Nine months later, the Spartans have made the jump to 6A, and will get a chance to prove they belong when the two schools face off this Friday.

Sheldon (1-0) has lost several key pieces of last year's state championship team. But they managed to hold off West Salem in the season opener. They'll travel north to face a Hillsboro team, that might be even better than the squad that won it all last year.

The Spartans (1-0) are led by senior running back Colt Lyerla who scored 26 touchdowns and rushed for more than 1,500 yards in 2009. Hillsboro beat Liberty last week in their season opener.
