RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks could be without defensive end Red Bryant this week at Chicago because of a foot problem.
Bryant did not practice Wednesday and coach Pete Carroll said the foot issue has been bothering Seattle's big run stopper for some time. Bryant began his career as a defensive tackle but was moved to defensive end in Carroll's first season and has thrived as the run-stopping cog for Seattle.
If Bryant can't play, Carroll said the play would be to move defensive tackle Alan Branch to defensive end and have rookie Greg Scruggs step in for Branch at defensive tackle.
Seattle linebacker Leroy Hill also didn't practice Wednesday. He was bothered by an ankle injury. Carroll was unsure of Hill's status for Sunday and said Malcolm Smith would step in if needed.
