EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing is out of Monday night's game against the New York Jets with a left knee injury.

Cushing left in the second quarter and the team said he will not return to the game. Cushing led the Texans with 38 sacks entering the game. He was the 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year.

New York lost starting center Nick Mangold in the third quarter to a right ankle injury. He was carted to the locker room, but returned for the final play of the period.

Jets backup receiver Clyde Gates injured a shoulder and was declared out for the rest of the game.
