FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Former Baylor player Robert Griffin has been cut. No, not that one.
The Jets released 15 players Friday, including tackle Robert T. Griffin, who blocked for Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III at Baylor and was New York's sixth-round draft pick. He is not related to the Redskins quarterback chosen No. 2 overall in the draft.
Quarterback Matt Simms, the son of Phil Simms, also was released. He was not expected to earn the third-string job ahead of Greg McElroy.
Other cuts were safety D'Anton Lynn, defensive backs LeQuan Lewis, Donnie Fletcher and Julian Posey; defensive end Jay Richardson; linebackers Brett Roy, Ricky Sapp and Marcus Dowtin; nose tackle Martin Tevaseu; receivers Eron Riley, Royce Pollard, Jordan White and Joseph Collins; tackle Paul Cornick; guard Fredrick Koloto; center Matt Kroul; tight end Hayden Smith and Tarren Lloyd; running back Terrance Ganaway; and punter Spencer Lanning.
