SEATTLE – The sports twitterverse has been abuzz the last couple of days after NBA star LeBron James threw out the idea of trying out for the NFL.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has responded.
ESPN’s John Clayton reported this week that James, whose playing future is on hold due to the NBA lockout, tweeted “When is the deadline for a team to sign a free agent?”
Carroll got into a jovial discussion with LeBron over the possibility. But Carroll sweetened the pot with a tweet of this picture – a Seahawks No. 1 jersey with LeBron’s name at the top. The picture was tweeted around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
At 6-feet 8-inches tall and 250 pounds, James could be quite a tough target to defend as a receiver. The big drawback would be a lack of experence. The last time he played football was in high school and he never went to college.
