EUGENE, Ore. -- Olympic hurdler and Oregon junior wide receiver Devon Allen will quit football and concentrate on his track career.
He made the announcement at a Wednesday press conference.
After a 5th place finish in the 110m Hurdles in Rio, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during Oregon's 35-32 loss to Nebraska on Sept. 17.
Allen said it has been six weeks since knee surgery. He's lightly training and plans to resume a full regimen by January. He will remain in Eugene to train.
Allen said he was disappointed at his Rio finish and devoting himself full-time to track will make him faster. He fully expects to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
