LONDON (AP) — Team Sky says American coach Bobby Julich has left the cycling team after admitting to doping when he was a rider.
The British team asked staff and riders last week to confirm they had no past links to doping following the Lance Armstrong scandal.
Sky says Julich has "disclosed having taken a banned substance in his past as a professional rider in the late 1990s."
Julich finished third at the 1998 Tour de France and was moved up from bronze to silver when American cyclist Tyler Hamilton was stripped of his 2004 Olympic time trial gold for doping.
Julich had been with Team Sky for two seasons, and team principal Dave Brailsford says "there have been no doubts about his work with us."
