EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Tajuan Porter scored a game-high 23 points and Oregon held off Colorado State 68-55 Sunday to win the BTI Tip-Off Tournament.
Oregon (3-0) scored seven straight points, five on free throws, to pull ahead 29-16 with 4:24 left in the first half and led the Rams 36-27 at halftime.
Colorado State (2-1) forward Andy Ogide scored all of his team-high 15 points in the first half on 7-of-9 shooting. He missed all four of his shots in the second half when he was saddled with foul trouble.
Oregon shot 41 percent from 3-point range in the first half.
Porter finished 5 of 10 from 3-point range a night after breaking the school record for career 3-pointers made.
The Rams, who turned the ball over 19 times, shot only 27 percent from the field in the second half and 35 percent for the game while Oregon finished at 43 percent.
"There were some possessions where we had to play the full 35 seconds, and I thought we did a very good job defensively," Oregon coach Ernie Kent said.
Porter sliced through the lane for a layup, then hit a 3-pointer from the top of the arc to give the Ducks a 49-31 lead, the team's biggest of the night, midway through the second half.
"TP, boy is he going to have a great senior year," Kent said.
Colorado State countered with a 12-3 run capped by a two Travis Franklin free throws that pulled the Rams to within 52-43 with 10:47 left, only the second time they cut Oregon's lead to less than 10 points in the second half.
A jumper by Porter from 16 feet pushed Oregon's lead back to 54-43 on the Ducks' next possession, and Oregon held a comfortable lead the rest of the game.
"We haven't reached our offensive or defensive potential," said Porter, who acknowledged he was happy the 3-point-record chase was over.
Oregon outrebounded Colorado State 37-31, led by Joevan Catron and Jamil Wilson, who each grabbed nine rebounds.
