EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon Ducks running back LeGarrette Blount, suspended for round-housing a Boise State defensive back in the season opener, may yet get another swing at playing football in the Pac-10 conference.

But that decision was not announced in the Ducks' weekly press conference.

Blount met over the weekend with Pac-10 Conference Commissioner Larry Scott, University of Oregon President Richard Lariviere, athletics director Mike Belotti and Ducks football coaches, according to .

Details:

Blount was suspended on Sept. 4 for round-housing a Boise State defensive back. He had to be forcibly removed from the field in the Ducks season-opening loss at Boise.

First-year head coach Chip Kelly at the time said Blount's actions were unacceptable for the football program or for the university.

University President Lariviere called his behavior "reprehensible." Commissioner Scott, who had been in attendance at the game, thanked Kelly and the university for their "swift and decisive action" in suspending Blount, who had already been suspended once during training camp for a "failure to meet team obligations," according to Bellotti.

Because the conference approved Blount's suspension, Lariviere has the final authority on whether or not to allow him to play ball in the Pac-10. Kelly and Bellotti would have to sign off on the decision as well, according to SI.

Blount's college football career appeared to be over after the punch, which garnered national attention. However, Kelly announced on Oct. 2 that his suspension could be reversed in time for this weekend's match against Stanford.

ESPN reported that Kelly might have been influenced by Blount's attorney, who had interceded to lobby for the running back's reinstatement.More:
