Blazers trade up in NBA draft
06:21 PM PDT on Thursday, June 25, 2009
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Trail Blazers began making some moves in the 2009 NBA draft on Thursday.
The team reportedly sent Sergio Rodriguez to Sacramento, to secure the No. 38 pick, but the team did not yet confirm that move Thursday night. The Blazers also had the No. 31 pick - the first of the second round.
General Manager Kevin Pritchard said Portland traded the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the 24th and 56th picks this year and a second round pick in 2010.
The unexpected has come to be expected of Pritchard, who has engineered 15 draft-day trades in the past three years.
He has ample resources to deal in the coming hours. The Blazers have a deep roster and five choices in the two-round draft.
