SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Trail Blazer ticket sales have surged in the hours since Portland beat the odds and won the right to settle the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant debate.

With just a 5.3 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick, the Blazers won the NBA's draft lottery Tuesday night.

 History: Rarely happened before

This earned them the right to draft a potential franchise player from what's considered to be a deep class.

The announcement set off a fan frenzy as people logged onto the Blazers official team Web site and started buying season tickets as if the team was already in line for the championship title.

In fact, part of the Web site crashed due to the volume of fans logging on.

"We had over 300,000 page views in the last 24 hours. That's the highest volume that trailblazers.com has ever had," team spokesman Mike Hanson said Wednesday afternoon.

Ticket sales were very strong Wednesday, Hanson said.

"Phones are ringing off the hook," he added.

Represented by Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy, the Blazers got a head start on landing next year's top rookie.

The Blazers will now almost certainly choose between two heralded potential franchise players Oden, the Ohio State center, or Durant, Texas' high-scoring forward.

 Your Turn: Oden or Durant?

Both players are likely headed to the Northwest, as Seattle also moved up into second. Atlanta got the third pick -- and needed it. Falling out of the top three would have meant sending the pick to Phoenix.

Memphis and Boston, which had the worst records in the league and the best chance of landing in the top two, slipped to fourth and fifth, respectively.
