PORTLAND -- The Rose Garden turned into a big playground Wednesday for some of their most ardent fans.
Every year, the Blazers host their season ticket holders and this time, they staged “Player-Palooza.”
“There's not a lot of opportunities that fans have to interact with the players and this is an event that allows them to come in and do that,” says Blazers President, Chris McGowan.
For three hours, the fans could tour the Blazers locker room, their weight room and the Broadcast center. There was also rock climbing, air hockey, bingo, basketball drills and much more.
Season Ticket holder Lynette Hanson loved it.
“I think this opportunity for fans is just monumental, unexpected, and wonderful,” says Hanson.
She moved here seven years ago and embraced the Blazers and her favorite player is J.J. Hickson.
“I love J.J. Hickson,” says Hanson adding, “I like guys that want to get in there and beat and bang and all that stuff which is the way I grew up watching basketball.”
Hickson, a 6-9, 240 pounder, is averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds per game and says Player-Palooza is a chance to show the fans how much they care for them.
“It's to come out and show our support for the fans just like the show their support for us,” says Hickson, “it's good to come out here and show these guys a good time.”
