Blazers guard collects coats for kids

PORTLAND – One of the Portland Trail Blazers is helping local kids stay warm this winter.

Blazers guard Wesley Matthews was set to appear at a meet-and-greet Monday as part of a coat drive benefiting area Boys and Girls Clubs.

Matthews will meet fans, signing autographs and collect new and gently used coats between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Gateway Fred Meyer.

The coat drive is taking place at all Fred Meyer stores and donations will be accepted through Nov. 17.
