PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Trail Blazers don't get Christmas off.
The banged-up Blazers host the Denver Nuggets in a battle between the top teams in the Northwest Division.
The Blazers won three of four on their recent road trip, quite a feat given the injuries to Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, Joel Pryzbilla (priz-BILL-uh), Nicolas Batum (bah-TOOM), Travis Outlaw and Rudy Fernandez.
Pressed into starting duty, second-year guard Jerryd Bayless scored a career-high 31 points as the Trail Blazers upended the San Antonio Spurs 98-94 on Wednesday.
And with both Portland centers out of commission, 36-year-old Juwan Howard made his first start of the season and posted a double-double.
