PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Trail Blazers go back in time Wednesday night, taking on the Phoenix Suns at their original home at Memorial Coliseum for the preseason game.
It's the first time in 14 years the team has played at the coliseum, as players and fans celebrate the 40 year anniversary.
Lately there's been a lot of attention paid to the coliseum and what should be done with it. There is talk of making it part of a new nightlife center in a Rose Quarter revitalization plan, but no firm proposals yet.
On Wednesday morning, veteran Blazers Terry Porter and Jerome Kersey took a stroll down memory lane at the coliseum to reminisce about the good old days.
"Walking down memory lane, seeing it all glammed up again, it looks great," Kersey recalled. "You just do reflections in your mind ... nice to see them having another game here."
Each quarter in the "turn-back-the-clock" game will symbolize one of the four decades of franchise history. The Blazers will also wear their new "Rip City" alternate jerseys, and bring out stars from the past.
"It's a tremendous amount of history what it's done for the Blazers over the years, I think it's huge," Porter said.
