Seattle, WA -- The San Francisco Giants beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 Friday night in front of a crowd just shy of 30,000.

Giants catcher Buster Posey opened the scoring in the second with a solo home run (8) to left field off Mariners starter Jason Vargas.

San Francisco added another run in the 4th when Angel Pagan scored on a sacrifice fly by Joaquin Arias.

The lead doubled to 4-0 when Melky Cabrera launched a two-run homer (6) to centerfield in the 8th.

The Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong was dominant at times, even retiring a stretch of 12 Mariner batters.  That streak was snapped with two leadoff singles for the Mariners in the eighth. Giants manager Bruce Bochy pulled Vogelsong for reliever Javier Lopez.

With the bases loaded and no outs in the eighth, Ichiro Suzuki reached on a fielder's choice that scored Dustin Ackley. That was followed by a sacrifice grounder from Franklin Gutierrez to score Miguel Olivo to make it 4-2. That would stand as the final score.

Santiago Casilla slammed the door on the Mariners in the bottom of the ninth, retiring Jesus Montero, Michael Saunders and Justin Smoak in order for his 18th save of the season.

Saturday's game at Safeco Field features the return of former University of Washington pitcher Tim Lincecum to Seattle. Kevin Millwood, who was part of last week's six-man no-hitter, gets the start for the Mariners.
