PORTLAND -- Al Miller Jr. says he lives for the Portland Marathon.

He would know. This will be his 32nd straight run.

The streak started after he ran a short race in Washington state while in the Navy. Two years after that was Portland Marathon number one.

Miller has run in about 30 different marathons in at least 12 states.

The resident of Deer Island, about an hour north of Portland, is now 57. Despite some neck, shoulder and back problems, he has kept running.
