The University of Portland Pilots women's soccer team defeated the University of Washington 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Merlo Field, moving them into the third round of the NCAA Division 1 soccer championships.

Both teams were scoreless in the first half. Washington lost a player to a red card early in the second half. Shortly after that, Eagle, Idaho sophomore Halley Kreminski scored off passes from junior Sophie Schmidt of Abbotsford, B.C., and sophomore Danielle Foxhoven of of Littleton, Colo., to put the Pilots on the scoreboard.

Just minutes later, the UW's Lindsey Kasser scored on a corner kick.

The score remained deadlocked in spite of an 18 to 2 shot advantage for the Pilots but Kreminski scored again in the 88th minute to put University of Portland ahead for good.

A crowd in excess of 3,000 watched the win.
