It was a perfect winter afternoon in the Rose City. Perfect for training, or just visiting.
"It's unbelievable. My in-laws got here and go you guys always complain about the rain, what's going on? It's been sunny since they showed up, so it's nice and hopefully it will continue in LA," says Timbers midfielder Jack Jewsbury.
It's been a special winter for Timbers Captain Jack Jewsbury. He and his wife Brittany welcomed their second daughter last week.
"It's great. It's some sleepless nights but she's getting into her schedule. It's great. It's one of those things you can't really explain. But we're happy as heck and glad to be with them here in Portland," said Jewsbury.
Jewsbury is in his 10th season in the MLS. Statistically, he's coming off the best season of his career. He had 7 goals and 8 assists, both career highs, and made the MLS All-Star Game. He's excited for the Timbers to build on last season.
"I think guys are just more comfortable in their surroundings around each other. We have a great locker room so it makes for a good group and fun to come in here and work hard together," said Jewsbury.
"The mentality's right. Everyone's excited. We're ready to get some games going and next week we'll get that Tuesday."
