BOYDS, Md. – The Portland Thorns FC extended their unbeaten streak to four games after beating Washington Spirit 2-1 Saturday.

In front of a sellout crowd of 5,011, the Thorns earned their third consecutive win. Forward Alex Morgan and midfielder Nikki Washington each tallied goals helping to maintain their spot at the top of the National Women’s Soccer League standings.

Portland and Washington finished even on shots, 11-11, as Thorns FC became the league’s first team to win three straight games.

The Thorns conclude their three-game road trip Sunday, May 12 against the Chicago Red Starts.
