PORTLAND -- The Portland Beavers opened their final season at PGE Park Thursday against Sacramento in what may have been their final season in Portland.

The Beavers lost 6-2 in front of nearly 7,000 fans who turned out for one last baseball opening game. Next year, the Portland Timbers and ML Soccer will take over and PGE Park will be reconfigured as a soccer-only field.

The Beavers have yet to find a new home after proposals for the Memorial Coliseum demolition, a venue in Lents Park in Southeast Portland and a field in Beaverton went nowhere.

As part of a weekend of fan festivities, the first 2,000 fans received a 2010 season magnetic schedule.

Thursday night's opener was the first in a four-season series against the River Cats.
