CORVALLIS -- Sports enthusiast and basketball junkie President Barack Obama says the best player in his family is niece Leslie Robinson, who plays for the Corvallis High Spartans.

That's high praise.

His brother-in-law Craig Robinson, Leslie's dad, coaches the Oregon State team, and he played college ball at Princeton.

Leslie Robinson, a 6 foot 1 forward, was just named to the Mid-Willamette Conference first-team, as a sophomore.

"The best athlete in our family is actually my niece, my brother-in-law’s daughter, who lives out in Oregon, out in Corvallis, and she’ll be D-1," Obama said, "This is one of these things where she has to decide, does she want to play softball, volleyball, or basketball. But she’s just — she’s good at everything. Unbelievable."

Obama made the comment during a recent wide-ranging interview  with sports author Bill Simmons.
