The University of Washington says the renovated Husky Stadium should be ready for its grand opening Aug. 31 when the Dawgs host Boise State.

There are a lot of new features. The running track is gone, the field is lowered and the stands are much closer to the sidelines and end zones for a more intimate football setting.

The $250 million renovation started in November of 2011.

In addition to the new facility upgrades, there are several new food vendors ready to set up shop. One of the most unique will be Trophy Cupcakes. It will open its 6th Seattle location on the north end of Husky Stadium on opening day.

The special Husky Cupcake is a big seller on game day at the University Village location. It’s made with purple cake and yellow butter cream frosting.

"We are so excited. You'd be surprised. A lot of players eat cupcakes," said Jennifer Shea, owner of Trophy Cupcakes. She and other vendors have been given an advance walk through of the new stadium.

"It’s beautiful and much more comfortable. Every detail is just perfect," she said. "I can't wait for everyone to see it.”
