TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell (BEV'-ul) says he feels his years of experience with NFL teams including the Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings have prepared him for a promotion.

The possibility of that promotion coming from his hometown gives Bevell all the more reason to be excited about it.

The 43-year-old Bevell interviewed Wednesday for the vacant head coaching position with the Arizona Cardinals, who are seeking a successor to the fired Ken Whisenhunt.

Bevell, who grew up in nearby Scottsdale, Ariz., and played for Chaparral High, has a career of working with successful quarterbacks, including Seattle's rookie sensation Russell Wilson.

If he got the Arizona job, Bevell would be trying to repair the worst quarterback situation in the league.

Arizona started four people at the position and the only one who had any success, Kevin Kolb (kahb), went down to a season-ending injury in Week 6.
