HOUSTON (AP) — Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol will miss tonight's game against Houston because of tendinitis in both knees. Gasol has dealt with the condition since training camp and says it hasn't "really improved" since then, prompting the Lakers to rule him out. Gasol is listed as day-to-day.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The father of Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen has died. The team says former NFL linebacker Grady Allen died overnight at age 66 from cardiac arrest. Dennis Allen had left the Raiders on Sunday night to go to the Dallas area to be with his father, who was hospitalized last week. Dennis Allen is expected to rejoin the team Wednesday night and coach Oakland against Denver on Thursday night.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have signed running back Jamize Olawale from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad to their 53-man roster. Olawale fills the spot that opened when linebacker Rolando McClain was suspended for two games for conduct detrimental to the team.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — After missing a winning field goal in overtime in two of the last three games, San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers and his fellow special teamers are as perplexed as anybody about what has gone wrong. The six-time Pro Bowl kicker is 21 for 30 on field goals this season. Just a year ago, Akers set an NFL single-season record with 44 field goals.
