Angela Kocherga - Television Correspondent
Angela Kocherga files news stories from our El Paso, Texas-based Border Bureau and travels extensively throughout the border region. She has covered numerous stories on the border situation between the United States and Mexico including illegal immigration, drug smuggling, cross-border trade, agriculture and crime.
She recently reported from Cancun, Mexico when it was struck by Hurricane Dean and on the impact to the region's tourist trade following that storm.
Angela opened the Mexico City bureau in 1999 to complement well-established print coverage by Belo's newspaper The Dallas Morning News.
Before the Mexico City and Border Bureaus, she worked for WFAA-TV in Dallas, TX as a general assignment reporter and producer of 'La Vida' a weekly news magazine.
An award-winning journalist, Angela has covered Mexico and the Border states her entire career beginning as a reporter for public radio and local television in El Paso/Juarez.
Angela is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley city of Brownsville and Guadalajara, Mexico.
