The Seahawks have one less concern once free agency begins next week.

Offensive tackle Sean Locklear has agreed to a five-year contract extension, according to a report on ESPN.com, keeping him off the free-agent market.

Locklear's agent did not return phone calls, and the Seahawks did not confirm the deal, an indication the paperwork is not finalized. Thursday's report stated Locklear agreed to a five-year extension which will pay him $12 million in guaranteed salary and bonuses and totals $32 million.

Locklear was Seattle's third-round pick in 2004, and he started at right tackle for the Seahawks the past three seasons, including all 16 regular-season games in 2007. He signed a one-year tender last year and was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Feb. 29.

Seattle also officially designated cornerback Marcus Trufant its franchise player Thursday. The Seahawks must now offer him a one-year tender worth a little less than $9.5 million. He will become a restricted free agent, eligible to sign an offer sheet from another team. The Seahawks would then have the right to either match that offer or accept two first-round draft picks as compensation from the team that signed Trufant.
