HOUSTON - The exodus continues from the Seattle Seahawks' coaching staff.

Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes

The Seahawks lost another assistant coach Tuesday when Ray Rhodes was hired as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Houston Texans.

Rhodes is the fifth assistant Seahawks coach to depart the staff since the end of the 2007 season.

Head coach Holmgren fired offensive line coach Bill Laveroni, quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn was hired as the Washington Redskins' offensive coordinator and, wide receivers coach Nolan Cromwell and offensive assistant/quality control coach Gary Reynolds left to join the Texas A&M coaching staff, with Cromwell becoming the offensive coordinator in that program.

Holmgren has announced 2008 will be his final season as coach of the Seahawks. He is expected to be succeeded in Seattle by assistant head coach/defensive backs coach Jim Mora, former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

Rhodes had been on Holmgren's staff for the past five seasons. He was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks from 2003-05 and had the title of special projects/defense the past two seasons after having health problems.
